Food Forest - ສວນອາຫານໃນປ່າ

Food forest, where community can grow organic vegetables, fruits and traditional herbs in forest area without cutting down trees, nor clear bushes but grow food in forest to keep the balance between human need and nature need and build a home for creature and wildlife. This is an alternative that can lead to the sustainable environment friendly and support community to make income.

Idea of Food Forest is to provide opportunities and empower communities about environmental issue, biodiversity preservation and food security through creative arts and cultural exchange. We aim to increase the awareness from local people and from outsider people. We will capture and document environmental changes from local perspectives through community-led theatre, video documentation, photography and story telling from women, men, and youth, raise awareness on the impacts of these changes on livelihoods through photos exhibition and documentary film.

For our long-term goal is that the youths and community members, particularly from indigenous and minority ethnic groups are confident in drawing upon their unique cultural traditions to express their experiences around the impacts of environmental change on their lives, and advocating around issues such as food sovereignty

We share and exchange methods from both the new and old ways of organic gardening. Our food forest program also raises awareness on food security and peoples’ health in communities within the large-scale development projects. The idea is to encourage local communities to preserve and protect the forest for a sustainable livelihood and forest and food security enhancement.
